Getting to know the Ladies

Whether it's joining in the roll up on Tuesday or Wednesday mornings, playing in the Inter Club friendly matches or getting a bit of helpful coaching, the Ladies have a lot to offer.

Hi Ladies

The golf season is well underway and the Ladies have played a number of Inter Club Friendly matches; we did not get off to a great start when our match with Andover (A) was cancelled due to inclement weather. We have played 4 others with the following results: Lost two, Won one & Halved one. We have a number of other matches over the next few months, the dates are listed at the top of this page. If any of you are interested in playing, please place your name on the ‘sign up sheets’ that are located in the Ladies changing rooms; I place these on the notice board about 4 weeks before the playing date.

Jenny Lycett and I have played two matches in the Knight Cup; a County foursomes pairs competition. In both matches (against Sherfield Oaks and Basingstoke) we have had the Home advantage. We had great matches against some lovely ladies and were fortunate enough to win both. Our third round match is away to Barton on Sea on the 28th of June.

A number of ladies have played in the Monthly Medal and the EGWA during April, May & June. If you wish any details on these Medals please contact me (by email). The dates are in the Club Diary and the ‘sign up sheets’ will be in the Pro shop on those dates.

Forthcoming competitions for ladies are the Ping 4BBB and the William Younger Trophy, ‘sign up sheets’ are on the ladies notice board. The William Younger Trophy is the Ladies Strokeplay Championship and, as a boarded competition, is limited to those with a handicap of 36 or less. The Ping 4BBB is played in Pairs. Ping normally send us some good prizes for this one, so find a partner and sign up.

The Ladies Knockout Trophy is underway and some have played their first round. I am also pleased to say that a number of Ladies have entered the Tadley Cup (mixed, matchplay, knock out) and have played their first round successfully.

This weekend (15th & 16th June) is the Club Championship and again, its great to see some Ladies playing in it. Good luck to all.

Finally, on the social side, don’t forget the Captain’s Cream Tea on Saturday July 20th and, on July 5th, even if you’re not playing in the AM AM, there’s a great evening with a BBQ and live entertainment for just £20.

Ladies ‘Roll Up’ days are Tuesday and Wednesday. It would be great to see you out on the course, it is in good condition and improving.

Keep golfing.
